EarthCam Documents Major Event for Minnesota DOT

Maryland Avenue Bridge is Moved to Its New Permanent Location

August 17, 2012 -- On Saturday, August 18th, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will meet a significant construction milestone when Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) move the Maryland Avenue Bridge to its new permanent location. EarthCam's megapixel construction camera technology will be onsite to deliver high definition views of this exciting event for the public to enjoy.

The bridge move will begin Saturday morning at 8:00am CDT. The SPMTs used for this bridge move are considered to be an innovative construction method, which allowed a very short duration closure of I-35E/Maryland Avenue. The SPMTs will move the bridge in two sections, each weighing an incredible 1,300 tons.

Minnesota DOT takes great pride in this project and would like to share images of the new bridge for the community to enjoy. The public is invited to stay up-to-date on the progress for the move and learn more about the project by visiting
