EarthCam Unveils 2019 Product Line, Introducing Artificial Intelligence Analytics for its Construction Camera Software Services

November 09, 2018 -- EarthCam, the leader in construction camera technology and services, introduced the first phase of its 2019 construction camera product line, featuring live streaming video, time-lapse and jobsite security cameras. The professional webcam systems were launched in conjunction with the newest version of EarthCam’s Control Center 8 Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) suite, Version 8.5. This latest round of updates includes support for artificial intelligence (AI) powered image analytics and major technological advancements for more efficient streaming of high-quality live video wirelessly over 4G LTE networks.

EarthCam’s new GigapixelCam X1 leads the live streaming camera series, delivering higher quality streaming video than ever before. This hybrid webcam technology solution performs the function of multiple cameras, delivering 4K broadcast-quality video and 5 billion pixel panoramic photography. Featuring full user-controllable 360° panning, 180° tilt and a built-in 144x zoom, the industrial-grade webcam boasts a larger high-performance image sensor, resulting in photos and gigapixel panoramas that are displayed in extraordinary detail. With applications spanning several industries, from scientific to construction to entertainment, the innovative solution delivers shareable video content for analytics, digital and broadcast media use.

Leading the time-lapse series is EarthCam’s new MegapixelCam 8K, which elevates the project documentation process, delivering the industry’s highest-quality imagery for historic archiving. The camera features RAW format imaging technology for projects that demand the highest possible quality from a fixed-position time-lapse camera. RAW format records 6,300% more levels of brightness than typical JPEG imagery, allowing for more adjustments to the photos without sacrificing image quality. Users also have access to real-time video recordings and can promote their construction milestones for years to come with impressive 8K time-lapse movies. EarthCam also premiered the MegapixelCam 4K, an entry-level time-lapse camera suitable for any project budget and timeline. The powerful, yet cost-effective system delivers high-quality content via 24 megapixel photography, a live video preview for real-time progress monitoring and 4K time-lapse movies for marketing.

EarthCam rebuilt its Control Center 8 SaaS from the ground up, optimizing the viewing experience for desktop, tablet and mobile phones. The enhancements go far beyond a responsive display, creating a totally custom design for a tailored viewing experience from device to device. Version 8.5 continues to expand the ways in which users can incorporate their EarthCam construction camera content into third party project management apps with the addition of Bentley Synchro and Autodesk BIM 360 to its robust portfolio of integration partners. Optimizations to both its construction camera and photography interfaces enable users to integrate webcam images, 360° VR photography, videos, gigapixel panoramas and time-lapse movies within the BIM 360 user platform. The visual content empowers users with the most up-to-date jobsite photography to measure against 3D BIM, Navisworks and Revit models.

Control Center 8.5 also contains new AI-powered image analytics, enabling EarthCam to use intelligent video analysis with the learning capability of AI to process live video, archived recordings and still photos. The first product to include this AI support is the new EarthCam skill for Amazon Echo Show. Unique AI algorithms developed by EarthCam programmers analyze the live webcam images, scanning for specific colors and pigment gradients, to purposefully select content for the best possible views of sunrises and sunsets. Through the EarthCam skill, the video-enabled device delivers live streaming EarthCam content based on user utterances, such as “Alexa, show me a sunrise”. When prompted, EarthCam will deliver its high-quality live streaming content directly to the user’s device based specifically on the AI algorithm determinations.

As a pioneer of online IP camera streaming, EarthCam is leading the industry by incorporating the new H.265 streaming video codec, which serves as one of the flagship features for the latest version of its online software. Version 8.5 includes support for transporting 4K-quality video at increased transmission speeds while utilizing significantly less data throughout the process, delivering immediate cost savings to customers.

Rounding out the 2019 product line is an economically-priced live streaming security camera, which delivers high resolution imagery for comprehensive jobsite surveillance. Featuring a powerful 30x optical zoom, the ultra-responsive system images the entire jobsite and delivers frequent panoramic images for critical insight into project progress and acts as a serious security tool for documentation of the perimeter and surrounding areas.
